CHRISTmas Always Shines, even on my birthday month! (part 1 of 2)

Since I opened this blog and it became my main personal website, I haven't been visiting my geocities webpage as much. So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I recently saw this comment on my geocities guestbook from t'nils. This was her comment:

"Enjoyed your blog on the GCFCC--your recollections of past activities under my directorship and the current ones (25th anniv of GCF and reunion concert). Would you disclose your identity to me by e-mailing me a personal note? I need to know whom I'm thanking for a job well done."

She was our choir director, my discipler, and will always be my friend. Thank you, t'nils, for your very kind words and appreciation, and for blessing me with your life, ministry, and friendship. I'll email you after posting this blog entry (on updates and pictures of our reunion concert), so you'll know who I am and about this new post.

What she chanced upon (while surfing the net) was the blog entry which I posted last December, entitled CHRISTmas Still Shines!!! (You may click on the preceding underscored words if you want to read it.) In it, I reminisced (using words and pictures) about my love for singing, singing for the Lord, and singing in the choir. And it was an invitation to the "GCF Chancel Choir Reunion Concert" (circa 1985 to present) with my fellow alumni and current members of the GCFCC, plus the Praise Factory (kids). More than that, this concert was also a reunion with t'nils, who is actually our beloved Ate Nila (concert conductor), and her husband Kuya Ed D. (cantata overture composer, arranger and pianist), together with Rev. David (GCF founding pastor) and Patty Jo Y., who were all "home for Christmas" from abroad.

The reunion concert was just like old times and more... In the thick of the preparation, practices and performances, it's such a joy that we not just rekindled old friendships, but also built new friendships. There was an overflow of laughter, tears of joy, heartwarming memories, inspiring messages, and bittersweet goodbyes. It's always great to celebrate the birth of the Reason for the season (the Christ of CHRISTmas) with family. During performances, sometimes memories would surge that we'd get goosebumps. Sometimes we were overwhelmed with emotion that we almost choked while singing.

Some of the GCFCC alumni who joined did not sing with us in the concert, but served as narrators, cast members, and production staff. And we acknowledged our fellow alumni who were part of the audience. I'm so glad I was able to take these pictures to preserve our new memories. And I posted the pictures here to share this momentous occasion with you all, whether you were there or not, whether you are here or abroad (as the cybernet knows no geographic boundaries). So let's look at the pictures and reminisce... hope you all enjoy this trip down memory lane. May God continue to bless, guide, strengthen and inspire us all, wherever we may be!

We lingered on to capture more memories. The cute kids on the photos are Ofie's younger daughter, and my nephew and niece.

Such a great picture from Jean R., thanks a lot for sharing your photos with me!

Atebads, naisip ko noon, when I found out you and Atetulipya were active sa GCF, na baka passing fancy lang nyo ito. Alam mo yon---one of the many adventures na pinapasok nyong dalawa. So happy to see na long lasting pala. Tutuo always- iba ang shine ng CHRISTmas :)

ate osang, oo adventure talaga ang pinasok namin ni bads. pero yan ang adventure na di talaga matatapos kse we made sakay sa eroplano ni Jesus. ala ng katapusan yun...thank God! the ride hasn't been smooth (dahil sa akon) pero the piloto is an EVER CONSTANT SOURCE OF ASSURANCE and SECURITY, and refuses to drop me anywhere else except in His intended destination which is dun sa napakagandang lugar where we would sing with the choir of angels...:)

Hi Ate-Tulipya! Kilala mo nga sila, sana nga makasali ka din next reunion, God willing. Kaya ko share dito update & photos, para mag-reminisce tayo, nostalgic nga.. hay :) Yan na nga sila, at least nakita mo sila dito. Amen, this tradition has continued to bless many, including us (the participants)! Sabi nyo nga ni Ate-Rosanna, by entering His kingdom, we entered into the most exciting fulfilling secure victorious never-ending adventure of all! For in Christ, we have eternal life! :)

Hola Ate-Rosanna! Oks ba costume, thanks! Yup, nakapanood ka na sa amin, ilang beses na? Sensya ka na at medyo nahirapan ka to find a seat nung napuno cantata that time. Yung mga dumadaan ng steps, baka tawag ng kalikasan, hehe.. :) Thank God coz inspite of that, you said you've always been blessed by it. I agree with you & Ate-Tulipya, this adventure's forever, for His unshakeable kingdom will never end. Kaya iba ang shine ng CHRISTmas! Very subtle nga paalala ko sa b-day ko, hehe.. :)

Hi Ate-bananing! Kumusta na kayo ni Tildy? Glad you liked the pics! For first-time performers, medyo nerve-wracking din, but eventually, the joy of singing for Him makes you overcome that. You can read more about & see more pics of previous ones in (Concert at the) Rizal Park & ULTRA (larger audience) by clicking on my Dec'05 blog entry here: CHRISTmas Still Shines!!! I was an active member before (as in Rizal Park), but now I join reunion concerts (as in ULTRA & this latest one). Hope you can watch us (or them) next time, do tell me when you'll be on vacation here so I can invite you. Take care, hugs from me too! God bless! :)

It's such a privilege to sing for the Lord. Your text and photos here only show that you've enjoyed this ministry so much!

Hey, belated Happy Birthday, Scanns! Funny, June 25 is my parents' wedding anniversary. They celebrated their 40th year last Sunday.

How was your birthday celebration? I bet it was filled with fun, food, and fellowship!

God bless you all the way!

scanns said...

Hi Jayred! Indeed, what a privilege & joy it is to sing for Him & minister to people! While trying to describe such joy, words almost failed me... I do miss the actual moments, but I'm glad the photos somehow capture the memories. :)

Thanks for your greeting! Yes, I enjoyed my b-day! All my cutie "pamangkin" (four nieces & two nephews) celebrated it with me. They surprised me at home on the eve of my birthday, some stayed with us till my actual birthday. :)

And belated Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary to your parents! Wow, kasabay pala ng b-day ko yung anniv nila. :) May God bless you, your family, and your ministry!
