Simple Joys and Deep Thoughts

simple joys in life... these are for you, my friends!

breakfast in bed: home-made "bangus" (milkfish) belly sardines,
whole wheat bread, "ponkan" (orange) & a mug of piping hot green tea...

a closer look at the "bangus" belly sardines, yum! (esp. the "taba")

dessert: have a bowl of cold & sweet "ice-saba" so you'll be refreshed this summer... i love this even more when the "saba" (banana) is so ripe & "malambot" (soft)!

snack: mainit-init pang bagong lagang mani (still warm newly boiled peanuts)... before (still intact) & after the fact ("matapos kong lantakan"), hehe :-)

deep thoughts on Bible truth...

I was enjoying these yummy, yet nutritious and relatively inexpensive treats, when I had random thoughts:

We can buy or cook the most complicated, exotic and expensive food, but not a hearty appetite nor the sense of taste. I remember how I took this sense for granted, until I lost it when I got sick recently. I had to struggle to regain it. Thank God, He restored it to me after a day!

We can buy a luxurious and comfortable bed with the softest sheets and fluffiest pillows, but not sound sleep. I'm quite sure a lot of us have experienced some sort of "insomnia" at least once in our lives. But what if "insomnia" visits us every night? Indeed, we realize the value of one thing the most, when we lose it...

We can't buy peace, love, joy... get the drift. We don't have to spend so much money to enjoy life. Then I pondered about these trying times. Our nation and our people have been through a lot all these years.

Soon after, Jesus reminded me how He assured us "not to worry" in Matthew 6:25-34 (NIV). Thank You Jesus, we'll trust You! May God bless our nation and us all! :-)

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
